Dies in Residence
Joseph J Kinaskie, 64, plumber, died this morning in his home, 14 North Franklin Street from effects of an acute heart seizure. Mr. Kanaskie was stricken ill in his bedroom shortly after he arose at 8:00 a. m.
Joseph J. Kanaskie, a son of the late John and Katie (Kimmel) Kanaskie, was born August 6, 1892. in Shamokin. He attended St. Edward's School, and as a young man learned the trade of a plumber and worked under the late A.L. Zuern and the late Joseph Taby. He was engaged in business for himself for a number of years, also, retiring about 10 years ago. Mr Kanaskie was a member of St Edward's Church and the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Kanaskie was married June 13, 1917, to the former Mary Snyder, of Trevorton, in St. Patrick's Church, Trevorton.
Survivors include the widow, four sons, William, Shamokin and Robert, Edward and Richard, at home; two brothers, Leo, Shamokin, and John, Detroit, Mich, and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Stark and Miss Le-ona Kanaskie, Shamokin, and Mrs Frank Kurtz, Philadelphia, and two grandchildren. Another son, James, was killed in 1944 while serving with the United States Army in Italy.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 9:00 in St. Edward's Church, where a Requiem Mass will be said. Burial will be in St. Edward's Cemetery. Friends may call at the family residence from Saturday evening at 7:00 until time of services..
