What is Rome really like? From one woman's point of view it is: a big pile of whipped cream with strawberries arranged by an artist; narrow little streets and broad avenues; numerous piazzas with fountains by Bernini and other masters; (albeit most of the fountains are no longer flowing with water nor brilliantly lit since the energy crisis). It is a breathtaking display of the genius of Michaetaneelo: it is gold and silver and a place of treasure; it is obelisks and even a pyramid, filched from the Egyptians by the Roman Empire; the site of the narrow Appian Way, less wide than the Jersey Shore Pike, where Julius Caesar marched his mighty legions near the time of the birth of Christ; it is the amazement of the advancement of civilization 2000 years and more ago and the preservation of some of it today as seen in the Coloseum, Forum, Pantheon, Hadrian's Villa, Catacombs; it is the wonder of ancient engineering feats as seen not only in the architecture but in the aquaducts, the Tivoli fountains which operate by the hundreds only on gravity, and roads paved with lava blocks in 100 B.C. and still being used. It is Trevi Fountain, a massive sculpture creation surrounded by narrow streets and sidewalk cafes and into m WttJbv. 3n Mfc
Will Live In Bellefonte
First United Church of Christ, Howard, was the setting for the marriage at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 3, 1974) of Miss Cynthia M. Schenck and Thomas Tucker Shirey. The Rev. Jack D. Archer officiated at the double-ring ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Schenck, Howard, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Shirey, Couders-port. Mrs. Norma Markle, Bellefonte was organist and accompanied the soloists, Mrs. Cynthia Cowan, State College, and Willard Strunk, Howard. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of off-white silk organza styled with a high neckline, long straight sleeves, tight cuffs, empire waist and a full skirt Alencon lace trimmed the neckline, sleeves, front bodice and hemline. A cap-designed headpiece held two, long illusion veils which were trimmed with matching lace. She carried a colonial bouquet of miniature white carnations, baby's-breath, yellow roses and greens. Miss Susanne Schenck, sister of the bride Howard, was attired in a nile green crepe dress which featured a high, ruffled neckline, long cuffed sleeves, ruffled bib bodice and tie-back sash. She carried a basket of yellow daisies, baby's-breath, and greens.
Wearing identical ensembles were the bridesmaids Miss Barbara Schenck, Miss Patricia Schenck, sisters of the bride, both of Howard; Miss Susan Shirey, sister of the bride-groom, Coudersport; and Miss Barbara Weiss, Oradell, N.J. Each carried a bouquet of yellow daisies, baby's-breath and greens. Tami Shirey, sister of the bridegroom, Coudersport and Stephanie Brownawell, cousin of the bride, Timonium, Md., were flower girls in similarly styled long dresses of nile green crepe. Each carried small baskets of yellow daisies, baby's-breath and greens. Mrs. Schenck selected a pale pink, knit, floor-length dress for her daughter's wedding. Her corsage was of baby's-breath, miniature carnations and pink rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother chose a long, blue and white dress and similar corsage except that she had white rosebuds. Michael Shirey, brother of the groom, Coudersport, was best man for his brother. Ushers were Herbert Shirey, also a brother of the groom, Coudersport; David Schaub, Bellefonte; Lt. Robert Benson, Fort Dix, N.J.; and George Buchsen, Coudersport. Ringbearer was Todd Solomon, cousin of the bride, King of Prussia. The couple left on a wedding trip to Maryland immediately following the reception which was held in the church social room. The bride is a 1970 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School and was graduated in 1974 from Lock Haven State College. She will begin teaching at Penns Valley Area High School in the fall.
Her husband was graduated in 1969 from Coudersport Area High School and in 1973 from Lock Haven State College. He is employed by the Central Intermediate Unit and teaches at the Bellefonte Elementary School. They will live at 201 East High St., Bellefonte. Pre-nuptial parties were given by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Mary Schenck, Howard, and cousins Mrs.
Donna Thompson, Mrs. Ruth Solomon, Mrs. Judith Brownawell. A rehearsal was given by the groom's parents at the Whippoorwill in Lock Haven.

the waters of which people throw litter at least as often as coins; it is St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and Vatican City, and epitomizes the most magnificent of the churches in a nation where a church spire towers over every village and dominates the horizon. It is warm skies, palm trees, olive trees, fresh fruit, and parks with browned grass and unkempt lawns; it is friendly, helpful people, shopping at small meat markets and bemoaning the price per kilogram of poultry and veal; it is a place of chic shops and sidewalk peddlers; it is shaky government and unstable lire; a home for artists and creative people; a haven for United States medical students, who can find no room in their own country to study and come by the thousands.
'ft is tourists tour busses, cheap transportation, trains that run on time and a subway that may never be finished as each attempt at construction unearths treasures from the past and is halted for archaeological explorations. It is excellent food, no window screens, few flies, and gay music. And, altogether a mind-boggling experience trying to comprehend the encapsulized view of the magnitude of time encompassed in its civilization. A place to return to. on re which extended into a chapel train.
