Play Planned By Junior Class At Shinglehouse
The Junior Dramatics Club Shinglehouse High School will present the play, "Beware of Murder," a mystery - comedy in three acts, in the Shinglehouse Theater, January 23, at eight o'clock.
The cast of characters is as follows.
Hollis Eaton, Alice Lawton;
Katinka, Jeanette Klinger; Veronica Latham, Patricia Perkins, Juliet Dewsbury, Barbara Press;
Virginia Vandyne, Gail Jenkins, Lilly Cordova, Diane Sutton;
Trixie Nolan, Donna Kemp;
Mary Ann Dodd, Janice Stevens;
Eve Durant, Donna Taylor;
Annie E. Ambrose, Mary West;
Dr. Aurora Hasbrook, Jean Howard; and
Mrs. Harriet Dodd, Dorothea Hopewell.
The play is being directed Mrs. William Graves, club sponsor, and Miss Mary Ellen Wetzel.

Penny Sorokes I just found this while researching newspapers; thought you might like to see it. I think your mom graduated in June 1948, is that right? So she would have come back to co-direct this play with Mrs. Graves. Did she do others? Here is a transcription, to go with the Olean Times Herald article:

Penny, could this have been while she was school secretary..... and perhaps was just one of her many interests? She befriended me before I even knew Gord, such a lovely lady. Gord and I were 1st cousins but because of the age gap we did did not know each other until later in life...remarkable people your parents.

Shinglehouse Singers Host To Their Wives
The Shinglehouse Choristers entertained their wives at a banquet held in the First Baptist Church parlors Thursday evening.
The women of the church prepared and served a dinner at six-thirty. The tables were decorated with'Easter boskets and candles in Easter colors.
Mrs. Lena Kemp had charge of the dining room, with
Mary Ellen Wetzel,
Joanne Klinger,
Shirley Moser and
Elenor Lunn
as waitresses.
Mrs. Della Cooper was chairman of the kitchen committee. An impromptu program w presented with Walter Palmer directing. Accompanists were:
Margaret Norton,
Norma Palmer and
Dorothy Bailey.
Soloists were:
James Lindsey,
Frank Freeborn,
Laurence Bailey,
Bill Miller and
Kendall Palmer.
Walter Palmer sang a medley.
A harmonica solo was played by Ed Young.
The Choristers sang several selections and group singing concluded the program. See less
