Two comments, one from each side of my family: Hardes side: the Grigsbys seem to have come, as did Hardes and Burrs, from County Kent England, via Town of Williamson, Wayne County, NY. Would like to compare notes.
Chandler side: two generations of heads of households Ezra and his father, Charles died of Typhoid fever within a month in winter of 1870, in our area...would like to learn circumstances. I know it is a contaminated water cause.

Tom Hardes, I have the same info on the Grigsby's that you have. My 3rd G Grandfather, William Grigsy was brother to James. Born in Boughton, County Kent, England. Then I picked them up in Williamson, Waynes County NY, and then on to McKean. Williams daughter Martha Grigsby my 2xs G Grandmother married my 2x's GGrandfather Charles Dolley.

This is a photo that I have of James Grigsby...however the date of the article above has his death in 1878. I'm going to have to do some more research now, because I have his death in Eau Claire, Wisconsin 1874. My James is listed as being born in Kent, England as well. Perhaps cousins? I guess this will keep me busy for awhile to make sure that I have this right in my tree....lol

Very good info! Neighbors and more!! A Grigsby also married Charles Burr, the eldest son of Edgar Walter Burr and Jane Hardes (all born Kent. ENG.)
There seems to be a migration to Eau Clare, WI. Our Charles Chandler who married the youngest Burr daughter, moved to Wheeler, near there. Edgar travelled to see her, after Jane died. I have his pic, taken in Eau Clare. Will share.
Nice to "meet" you!
