Russell and Dufton places were on the right branch of Hamilton Road, now called Button Road, when I was growing up. Darrel Dufton still lived there then.

Who was Lydia Weidrich? I am descended from Eve and George WEIMER, but I don't have a Lydia, either married or maiden name.

GEORGE WIEDERICH George Wiederich was born at Inglesy, France and in 1821 came to America, in 1829 locating at Roulette where they purchased a farm from the Streeter tract, then wilderness. His brothers and sisters were
- Sally, who married Isaac Lyman;
- Margaret, who married Henry Reynolds, and
- Caroline who married Charles Barrett;
- George married Kate Yentzer, daughter of Henry Yentzer.
After his marriage they resided on his father's farm. They were the parents of six children,
- Alice - Orlando - Lettie - Edith - Della, and - Volney.

But still no Lydia. Lettie- for 'Violette'? I've only seen Lettie, but it's usually a nickname.

Lettie is Lydia. The research was done long ago by hand in the stacks.

I've had this sheet in my file for years, but I don't know where it came from, since I wasn't as zealous way back then in documenting sources. So while I'm looking it over again for a clue, this little ditty at the bottom caught my eye:
"The trotting track is being put in condition and will be in a splendid shape in a few days.--- Item from Reporter in 1876"
So, the Reporter. Local paper at the time? But it's the Trotting Track that's interesting, because that's when the Track at Center Park, Coudersport, was being built and that's where I grew up, and where my dad still lives.

I've never seen a correlation or anything saying that. How do you know this?

Tim Chase So, ... no proof. I've looked throughout my file and I find no reference of Lettie as 'Lydia'. Not important, not trying to make a federal case out of it, but I am fanatic about documenting information now. Thanks for your input, Tim.

Yes, I have this, still no reference to a 'Lydia' as Lettie... or vice versa.

Tim Chase So you don't have a reference on-hand? You referred to her as 'Lydia', I just thought you might have a reference other than 'somewhere at the PCHS.' That doesn't wash. Like I said, not important; her name is 'Violetta' aka Lettie. I have a bigger problem: I have two Letties, one dau of Geo Weidrich, married Geo Weimer; the other, married to Wm Ralph Henderson.

Tim Chase John I've been doing this for thirty years. You expect me to have the info in my hand? You try my patience. Goodbye

Tim Chase me too, even longer, actually. Not in your hand/head, but on file. Doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm not trying to use the information, and that is why I'm on the site. And Kate Reed, you say was wife of Fred Dufton, was Kate Rena Henderson, daughter of Lettie & Wm Henderson. I can't find her as Kate Reed. I'm trying to reconcile what you wrote at the top of this thread with what I can actually document and it's tough, in this context. The relationship is actually important, but I'll turn to more reliable sources.

Tim Chase Fred Dufton, in this news article, was married to Katie Rena Henderson, dau of Will and Lettie Weidrich Henderson. I can't connect him to a Kate Reed, but maybe you would show me how. Nor can I find the key parents of Lettie, the grandparents of... Katie Henderson, perhaps the Lydia Weiderich to whom you refer above. Just can't make the connection yet. Here are Fred and Katie in one of the many birth and death certificates in which they appear together:
