In Virginia, while living on the South Branch, about 1763, Wilhelm WAGGONER born about 1706 Germany, built a fort-like home for his family. One day Wilhelm & daughter Mary & son Peter were working in the fields some distance from the fort when Indians came upon them & killed, scalped the old man then taking Mary & Peter captive. The rescue party found two Indians & Mary setting about a fire. They killed one Indian & wounded the other. One of the balls unluckily hit Mary & she died the next day. Peter was carried to their towns & remained with the Indians for some time; he later found his way to Philadelphia with some Frenchmen. . Willheim1 Waggoner was born Abt. 1706 in Dutch Flanders Germany, and died 1758-1764. He married (1) Anna Elizabeth Wagnerin Abt. 1730. He married (2) Agnesa 1750. Willheim arrived at the port of Philadelphia October 25, 1748, according to ships records he was approximately 42 years old when he arrived. Anna Elisabeth apparently died after giving birth or during the birth of daughter Anna Elisabeth in 1748 because records show a son being born to John and Agnesa Waggoner in 1751. John Peter was captured along with his sister Mary by the same indians who killed their father. Mary was wounded during a rescue attempt and died the following day. John is said to have escaped from the indians and made his way to Philadelphia where he became a Cordwainer. 1790 Pennsylvania census shows him married with 9 children. 5 sons and 4 daughters + 4 iii.
