Tim Lunn I have all but Doris on the tree.....I believe this line comes down from Phineas Varnum Maxson IV, son of Phineas "Varnum" III and Lura Ann Maxson/ Maxson......Lura Ann being the older sister of my GG father Enoch Ira and Mary Ann Barber/ Maxson.

Grace Titus Fred Maxson’s first wife was Florence Lockwood. Doris was the youngest of the 5 children and Florence died at childbirth with Doris. Doris was then adopted out and I can’t remember the name of the family off the top. I have it written down somewhere.

Tim Lunn I found two possible last names for her, Crooks and Brown.......do either sound correct?
Reply2h
Tim Lunn
Grace Titus Yes, I believe Crooks was the name of the family that adopted her. Brown may have been her married name.

I knew Jake and Genevieve Maxsons family after they had all boy babies. They were both janitors at Oswayo Valley High School. The boys were all athletes there. I watched the youngest Billy during basketball game.

Grace Titus I won't if you won't. Actually, Caroline Lunn Oles who I mentioned above as being buried at Crystal, was the mother of Leon (Tom) Oles and Dorothy. Tom (my father's cousin) was a great guy, I liked him very much and Ruth also. Caroline died on New Year's Eve 1919 at the age of 25 of pneumonia.

Glenn, Hyla and Sherman Canfield are my mother's sister and brothers.
My mom and her younger siblings not yet old enough to attend but she often told me how they would walk to school barefooted, as evidenced by Glenn, from family farm off nearby Pinneo Hill Road. They lived well up the hill at the first sharp bend.
The first time I saw this photo was late 1990's when I had visited mom in Wellsville to take her to the Millport fair. I was looking at old photos on display there and saw this. I believe it was a Mr. and Mrs. Dickenson or Dickerson who oversaw the display, who were kind enough to go through the efforts later get a copy made for us.
He recalled the Canfield farm and said until recently (1990's) some folks still referred to that bend as that.
The Rathbun family at bottom of hill had actually owned it for years and so generously during the 60's, 70's let us visit the fields of our ancestors when my parents would stop and ask permission. I can't tell you how grateful I am to them to have had those opportunities to listen to my mom reminisce about living there.
