Bert played first cornet in the New York Central Railroad Band in Avis, PA, when he and Hertha lived in Jersey Shore, PA. Bert and Hertha returned to Coudersport and owned the Frinks Station farm from 1922 to 1950. Frank Schoendorfer, married to Anna Elizabeth Mosch, was the director of the New York Central Band. A couple of names in this article are familiar, including Bert’s son Clinton Emil McElroy and Wilson Culver Butz, husband of Marjory Luella Tucker. COUPLE MARRIED SOME MONTHS AGO
Prominent Young Business Man and Austin Young Lady Married in August.
Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Marjorie Helen Hammond and J. Howard Gates, which took place in Naples, N. Y., Aug. 7, with the Rev. Roland H. Cortright, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Gates is a daughter of Mrs. Leroy Hammond and the late Mr. Hammond of Austin. She received her education in the Austin schools and for some time has been employed in the grocery store of W. D. Gates and Son.
Mr. Gates is the older son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Gates, and shortly after the death of his uncle, Harrison Gates, entered into partnership with his father, changing the old firm name of Gates Bros., to
W. D. Gates & Son.
He is an alumnus of Coudersport High School and of Allegany College, Meadville.
Mr. and Mrs. Gates have rented the attractive modern home of Russell Mosher on Park avenue, where they will make their home. They have the best wishes of their many friends.

ALLEN IN JAIL
John A. Allen, Roulette, is serving 74 days in the county jail for possessing seven green muskrat skins. He was committed by Justice Coleman Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Chapin returned last Wednesday from Windber, where they were called by the death of Mrs. Chapin's brother.

BABY BOY ARRIVES AT GAMBLE HOME
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gamble of Garden City, L. I., N. Y., announce the arrival of a son born August 23. He has been named Thomas Edwin and weighed eight pounds. Mrs. Gamble is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. McElroy of Coudersport, R. D.

HONORED BY FRIENDS LAST EVENING
Members of the choir of Park Methodist Church met last evening at Camp Potato for a picnic supper to honor Howard Gates who soon leaves to join the armed forces.

COUPLE MARRIED SOME MONTHS AGO
Prominent Young Business Man and Austin Young Lady Married in August.
Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Marjorie Helen Hammond and J. Howard Gates, which took place in Naples, N. Y., Aug. 7, with the Rev. Roland H. Cortright, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Gates is a daughter of Mrs. Leroy Hammond and the late Mr. Hammond of Austin. She received her education in the Austin schools and for some time has been employed in the grocery store of W. D. Gates and Son.
Mr. Gates is the older son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Gates, and shortly after the death of his uncle, Harrison Gates, entered into partnership with his father, changing the old firm name of Gates Bros., to
W. D. Gates & Son.
He is an alumnus of Coudersport High School and of Allegany College, Meadville.
Mr. and Mrs. Gates have rented the attractive modern home of Russell Mosher on Park avenue, where they will make their home. They have the best wishes of their many friends.

ALLEN IN JAIL
John A. Allen, Roulette, is serving 74 days in the county jail for possessing seven green muskrat skins. He was committed by Justice Coleman Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Chapin returned last Wednesday from Windber, where they were called by the death of Mrs. Chapin's brother.
