  [Lewis by Edna Lovesky.FTW] In 1818 Robert and William Lewis, with their families, left New Jersey and settled in Rich Va lley, which is near Emporium, Pennsylvania. The Holland Land Company had obtained a grant of a large tract of land it was opening up for settlement. Col. Elihu Chadwick of Monmouth County, New Jersey was their agent and induced many people from Monmouth County to settle in Rich Valley. (This was taken from the mentioned history under William Lewis's Facts. William L ewis, Jr. son of William and Mary Britton Lewis, married a daughter of Col. Elihu Chadwick.
