Mr, and Mrs. James E. Dewey
The Park Methodist Church was the setting Saturday night for the marriage of Miss Nettie Joyce Duell, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Revere Duell of Coudersport, R.D. 4. and James Edward Dewey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Dewey of 105 Allegany Ave.
The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Benton S. Swartz before an altar decorated with vases of Easter llllics. White satin ribbons and Easter llllles formed the pew shields.
Miss Lucille Clark, church organist played "Ave Muria." "Ltcbcstraum'' and Lohengrin's "Wedding March". Miss Mary Dewey, sister of the bridegroom, sang "Boeausc" and "1 Love Thee" before the ceremony and "The Lord's Prayer" after the vows.
Given In marriage by her father, the bride wore a suit of powder blue with whlto accessories and an orchid corsage.
Mrs. Harry Surkalo, of DuBols. the bride's sister, was matron of honor. She wore a blue-gray checked suit with white accessories. Bridesmaids were Miss JoAnn Way and Miss Partlcla Rowe, both of Coudersport. Miss Way's suit was navy and with it she wore while accessories. Miss Rowe, dressed in a pink suit, also wore white accessories. They all had corses of demure roses.
Robert Dewey, Knoxville, brother of the brodrgroom. was best. man. Robert Toombs, Coudersport and Arthur F. DuBols, Morristown, N.J. were ushers.
The bride's mother wore a pink Hjhuiu Ijy. lump) James F... Dewey suit with white .accessories. Her corsage was ot plnocehl roses, The bridegroom's mother Wore an ensemble of t beige and .- coral print featuring a coral : 'bolero jacket. . Her accessories were black and her corsage was of sweetheart roses.
A reception for about 150 guests was held at the Sweden Valley Grange Hall immediately following the ceremony.- The hall w.is decor-: ated with blue and wlilup .streamers and Easter lilies'. The bride's table was centered with a three tier wedding cake, lopped with a miniature bride and groom.
Mrs. Dewey is a graduate of the Coudersport High School and has been employed at Potato City Hotel. Mr. Dewey is also a graduate of the local high school and of Penn State College with a B.S. degree in Forestry. He is employed by the U. S. Forest Service, Priest Lake District, Nordman, Idaho.
The couple left Saturday night for the west where they will make their home.
Out of town guests included the brldegroom's grandmothers, Mrs. Man Austin, of Ithaca, N.Y. and Mrs. Harriet Dewey, of Wellsboro, Pa.
Also, Mrs. Stanley Opp, Mrs. James Sptital, both of Endicott., N. Y.: Mr. and Mrs.K. L. Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Austin and Mr.and Mrs. Leon Dewey, all of Wellsboro. • Death of Little Son
William John Bunnell, little son of Alfred J. and Vera Day Bunnell, died Thursday, August 31, 1944, after an illness of only 24 hours. Surviving besides the parents to mourn the passing of the tiny son, born March 16, 1944, are a brother and a sister. Alfred, Jr., and Lois. Funeral service was held from the Grabe Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Anthony Bollbach officiating.
Pallbearers were
Sanford Gleason and Lyle Pelchy.
Interment was made in Brookland Cemetery.
Entertained By Best Man
Robert Dewey entertained at a bachelor party Monday evening at his home for Pvt. Harold Roberts, who became a benedict Tuesday. Other guests were: Charles Campbell, James Raymond. Randall Raup. Lee Hill, John White and James Dewey.
