They had a total of 6 children; Heinrich, Jacob, Martin, Frederick, Jakob and Maria. Only two of those children made the trip to America with them. Jacob Gass Jr. b. 12-7-1704 married unknown Frederich Gass b. 4-9-1701 married unknown. These dates and the fact of immigration is found in the church records of Rithenfluh. It is believed that the total number of 6 in this party are the men and their wives. Jacob Gass Sr. took the oath in Philadelphia as did the other two men. The families migrated to York county PA and in 1740 to Rowan county NC. In America he became, if not already, an anabaptist and early follower of Conrad Beissel the founder of Ephrata Cloister. In the 1740s Jakob served twice as Prior of the Brothers of Zion, a celibate order of pietist, German Brethern sectarians who observed the sabbath on the 7th day (Saturday).
