A TRIBUTE published in the pages of THE DAILY NEWS WILLIAMSON, W.VA. MAR 20 1978 Memorial Obituary Entered Into Eternal Rest Saturday, March 18, 1978 James "Jim" Varney Baptist Church, he was a retired miner. In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Ernest C. Varney of Trenton, Ohio; Mrs. Zora Lee Mac- Dougall of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Eula Mae Worstell of Maryville, Ohio; W.J. Varney, Douglas Varney, Harry Var- ney, Franklin Varney, Mrs. Patsy Russell and Mrs. Alene Maynard, all of Sidney. Also surviving are 12 grand- children and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Honaker of Kimper, Ky.; Mrs. Betty Slone of Zebulon, Ky.; Mrs. Louvinnia Smith of Elyria, Ohio; Mrs. Virgie Varney, Minnie Bostic and Mrs. Jane Ball, all of McAndrews, Ky. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for James "Jim" Varney, 77, of Sidney, Ky., were to have been held at 11 a.m. today at the Mount Pleasant Regular Baptist Church at Sidney. The Elders Grover Adkins and Lewis Marcum were to officiate. Burial was to have followed in the Honaker cemetery at Kimper, Ky., under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry. Varney died Saturday morning at the Appalachian Regional Hospital after a lingering illness. Born April 16, 1900, at Kim- per, he was the son of the late William A. and Augusta Collins Varney.
