BUFFALO EVENING NEWS: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, ARREST BATH MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING WIFE Sylvester Fenton, Weak and Exhausted, Makes No Resistance When Officers Appear As He Breakfasts at Friend's Home.
BATH, Nov. 2-(Special). Mrs. Emma Fenton was slain by her husband, Sylvester Fenton, at the home of J. B. Chase in Vermont street, here yesterday morning, according to the authorities. Mrs. Fenton's head was crushed with a hammer and her throat was cut.
Fenton disappeared after the killing.
At about 8 o'clock this morning, Fred Hathaway who lives near Fenton's farm in the southwestern part of this town telephoned to the sheriff's office this morning that Fenton wäs at his place, and had been given breakfast. Chief of Police Ormsby Turnkey Hogue captured him. Fenton was exhausted and made no resistance. He refused to make a statement.
Grace Towner, a granddaughter of Fenton and the murdered woman was in the house at the time and witnessed the killing. Running from the house for aid she was stopped by Fenton who told her not to call the authorities for help.
Don't call the officers." he said. I will end it all as far as I am concerned and it will be easier and cheaper for all."

He walked out into Vermont street. and disappeared along that thoroughfare in the direction of the outskirts of the city.
Fenton is 63 years old. His wife was several years his junior. Fenton owned two large farms near Hornell. but had not worked them in several several weeks ago to spend the winter His, wife came this village at the Chase home.
