• Clare E. Clark Dies After Five Years of Illness
Retired Railway Mail Clerk and Well Known Resident of Coudersport Many years.
Clare E. Clark, one of Coudersport's best known residents passed away suddenly Friday afternoon. Mr. Clark had been ill for five years.
Deceased was born at Knoxville, Pa., March 12, 1874, a son of Elias and Marietta Cloos Clark. He had resided in Coudersport since 1909. He was a retired railway mail clerk and while engaged at that work he became interested in growing plants, resulting in the establishment of the well known Clark's Green Houses.
He married Alice May Hulbutt of Knoxville, fifty years ago September 12, 1944 and she with a daughter and two sons survive.
They are: Howard Clark, now operating the greenhouses, and Mrs. Beatrice Blank, residing at this place and Gordon Clark of Niagara Falls.
He was one of six children and the first one to succumb. Surviving are tough brothers and one sister: Byron Rae Clark, Westfield; Cecil Clark, Pittsburgh; Horton Clark, Painted Post, N. Y., and Mrs. Rosamond Walker, New York City.
He was a member of the Eulalia Lodge and Coudersport Consistory and of Park Methodist Church.
Funeral service was held from the Howard Clark home, Soutn Main street at 3:00 P. Sunday, with the Rev. G. Paul Keller officiating. Interment was in Eulalia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hubert C. Cox, James R. Taubert, Elmer Tate, Howard Becker, Owen Simpler and Herbert C. Anderson.
Out of town relatives here to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Howard Clark, Niagara Falls, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Horton Clark, Andrew Clark, Westfield; Peter Edwards. Osceola; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hulbutt, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hulbutt, Ithaca, N. Y.: Mr. and Mrs. Asalph Hulbutt, Tioga Mr. and Mrs. Orrie Cummins, of Tioga..
