William Harmon Maynard
William Harmon Maynard (October 1849-10 October 1912) was the Sheriff of Pike County, Kentucky at the time of the Hatfield-McCoy feud. In 1882, Devil Anse Hatfield and Judge Valentine Hartfield had Maynard hand over Pharmer, Bud, and Tolbert McCoy after they mortally wounded Ellison Hatfield, arguing that the murdered man was a West Virginian, and thus deserved to be tried in West Virginia. Maynard objected to the Hatfields' absconding with the three boys, who were masscacred on Ellison's death.
