E. H. Brooks and daughter went to Wheeling this morning tor a visit with relatives and friends.

Mrs. Louis Wetzel, of Garry Owen, has almost recovered from the accident she met with not long ago.

H. T. Blaney, an extensive cattle dealer in Jefferson county, Ohio, contemplates moving to this city soon. Grandma Eskey, lately widowed, j bas taken up her residence with her j daughter, Mrs. W.

F. Rice. The old heme of the Eskey familv, on upper Wells sireet is being repaired and will be occupied by two families. Chris Henderson, cashier at the railway station, who has been recuperating his health with his parents in Little, was in the city yesterday. Last evening he left for a short visit with friends and relatives in Pittsburg.

Mr. Chas. Farmer and Misses Eulalie Fish and Terers Gibbons, belonging to the New Martinsville corps of teachers, visited our public schools this week. They exoressed themselves as being highly pleased over our advancement in an educational way. Attorney F.

Attorneys A. Bruce Hunt and M. D. Haneswent to Parkersburg this morning to attend Circuit Court, which convenes in that city today. Lee Freidenrich and H. O Stealey, two of Wheeling's best known cigar men, are dispensing their wares among the city trade today.

Rev. P. A. Boice returned today from New Martinsville, where he held services in the St. Paul's Catholic church at that place yesterday.

C. Y. Benedum, a prominent member of the South Penn Oil company, and wife, ot Middle bourne, were registered at the Wells yesterday. Mrs. Poole and daughter, of St.

Messrs. Jacob Straus and Jerome Straus, prominent traveling men of Cincinnati, were in the city today.
James Pierpoint, a prominent farmer and miller of Next, this county, is in the city today on business.
Dr. R. H. Thaw, of Elizabeth, Wirt county, W. Va., was in the city today, the guests of relatives and friends.
W. H. Furbee and Russell Wright, two ot the prominent citizens of the county, were in Wheeling yesterday.
Jas. Hall, a prominent contractor and oil producer, returned this afternoon from a visit to his home in Washington, Pa.
Mr. Clarence Kale, the well known contractor and producer, has been in Pittsburg for several days on business.
Andy Stoops, of Railroad Avenue, was called to Pittsburg this morning by ihe serious illness of his father who resides in that city.
Postmaster Geo. E. Work is in Washington, D. C , on business connected with the establishment of free delivery service in this city.
