"Edwin C. Darrin
Resident of Coudersport and Well-Known for 40 Years
Edwin C. Darrin, Coudersport, died Tuesday afternoon (July 27, 1965) at the Potter County Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after an illness of five months.
Mr. Darrin was born March 3, 1880, at Sterling Run, Cameron County Pa., the son of Joseph Henry Darrin and Martha Wylie Darrin. He was united in marriage to Caroline E. Golden at Ridgeway, Pa. On Aug. 4, 1903. Mrs. Darrin died April 19, 1962. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Fifteen children were born to the family, all but one of whom re living. Charles, the oldest son, died in 1957. The surviving children are: Mrs. Helen Sonnekalb, Coudersport; Edwin Darrin Cornell, Franklinville, N.Y.,; Mrs. C. A. (Martha) Stevens, Buffalo; Robert B. Darrin, Coudersport; Elwood W. Darrin, Coudersport; Mrs. L. (Ethel) Cunningham, Inglewood, Calif.; Joseph M. Darrin, Coudersport; Mrs. B. J. (Gertrude) Cannon, Glenndale, Ariz.; Mrs. William (Ruth) Tingley, Olean; Richard H. Darrin, Long Beach, Calif.; James T. Darrin, Clarence, NY.; Mrs. A. G. (Harriet) Habermehl, Tonawanda, N.Y.; Miss Phyllis J. Darrin, Buffalo. There are 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Darrin was employed for over 50 years by the Elk Tanning Co. and the Damascus Tanning Co., having resided in Sterling Run, Ridgway, and Port Allegany, before moving to Coudersport in 1926.
He was a member of park Methodist Church, Eulalia Lodge 342, F&AM, Royal Arch Lodge, Potter Commandery and Coudersport Consistory.
Friends will be received after 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday) at the Grabe Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 Friday and services at the Park Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. LaRue Bender officiating. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport.
Memorial donations may be made to any charitable organization and to the Park Methodist Church."

COUDERSPORT -- Friends of Edwin C. Darrin, 85, of this place, who died Tuesday (July 27, 1965) at Potter County Memorial Hospital, are being received at the Grabe Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday (July 30, 1965).
At 2 p.m. Friday funeral services will be held in the Park Methodist Church here, the Rev. LaRue Bender, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery at Coudersport.

(Ethel) Cunningham of Inglewood, Calif., Mrs. B.J. (Gertrude) Cannon of Glendale, Ariz., Mrs. William (Ruth) Tingley of Olean, N.Y., Mrs. A.G. (Harriet) Habermehl of Tonawanda, N.Y. and Miss Phyllis J. Darrin of Buffalo, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren."

COUDERSPORT - Funeral services for Edwin C. Darrin, 85, who died Tuesday (July 27, 1965) were held this afternoon (July 30, 1965) in the Park Methodist Church here, the Rev. LaRue Bender, officiating. Burial followed in Eulalia Cemetery.
The Grabe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. In listing the seven sons and seven daughters who survive Mrs. Darrin, the name of Howard G. Darrin of Buffalo was omitted in the obituary printed in the Times Herald (July 28, 1965).
Mr. Darrin and his wife, Caroline Golden Darrin who died April 19, 1962, had 15 children, all of whom was raised to adulthood. One son, Charles Darrin, died in 1957."
