Last week the sad news of the death of Fred Rozell shocked our neighbor hood, and all of his extensive acquaintance for miles around. In addition to this was the serious illness of his brother-in-law, stricken down while caring for him about twenty-four hours before Fred's death. It proved to be in Edward Connor's case a quick consumption. His lungs were diseased and hemorrhage set in on the night of the 19th, and at 3 p.m. the 27th, after intense suffering, he too passed away over that river whose ferryman is ever at his post.
He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters, who were all devoted to him, and as they shall here after gather at the fireside, will sadly feel their great loss.
Both these men were officials of Oswayo township, and commanded the respect of all with whom their busy lives brought them in contact. Both were also members of Oswayo Lodge, No. 1087, I. O. O. F., which attended the funeral obsequies at Chrystal cemetery. How like the story of Damon and Pythias these men lived.
Of about the same age, devoted to each other as brothers all through life, death did not separate them for only a week. But the afflicted families and the neighbors, who also feel afflicted with them, will long mourn for their untimely death in the prime of life.
Their aged parents and parents-in-law, Edwin and Salome D. (Harris) Rozell, were married over 56 years ago, and of the eight children born to them, Fred was the first taken to break their number. While this is an unusual circumstance, and perhaps cause for thankfulness, yet it does not console their grief, nor can the son they set so much store by, come back to them.

Mrs. C.W. Walker,
Mrs. E. Connor,
Lottie E. and
Frank E. Rozell, of this place;
A. H. Rozell, of Hornellsville, N. Y., and
Melvin M. Rozell, of Millbrook, Duchess county, N.Y.
