· Remembering my Grandmother Greenhill on the 133rd anniversary of her birth. She wasn’t Irish but was always happy to celebrate anything. She was “Grandma” to many people.

I remember her, too but never had her for a teacher. When did she stop teaching and what grade or subject did she teach?

Terry Summers Bishop she taught at Roulette HS and then at Port Allegany High after they closed Roulette in the late 1950’s. I don’t remember when she retired but think she worked into the early 1960’s. She taught history I’m sure possibly other subjects during her career. Her teaching certificate listed many things including Latin, English, and mathematics, I think. When she graduated from Clarion Normal School, it wasn’t unusual to be certified to teach a lot of subjects if you were deemed proficient.

Terry Summers Bishop house is on River Street. It was across the street from a small grocery store and Ruth Sampson (or Samson) lived behind it. Maybe she owned it?? Later, Tom Leete had a small building next to the old store building where he had an office for his lumber yard next to that. On up across from Grandma’s was Close’s Feed Mill Store, which was about where Close’s lumber used to be.
