I was lucky enough to find, and purchase an image of Albert Coats Evans (with his signature on the back) last year during a trip to Gettysburg.

Crazy what he went through! He was the tent mate of Leavitt Wilson Cushing for 1863-1864, Leavitt Wilson talks about the day Albert was captured, June 1864. The company was surrounded, and a few men (Albert and a Corporal) gave themselves up and it allowed a majority of the company to escape.

We have his pension documentation and family stories about him and his time at Andersonville, including the story on the spring water that erupted from the ground. See less

Cushing, the Medal of Honor winner? Would you mind sharing the back? It would be interesting to see his signature. What a great find!! Albert was the great grandfather of Dorothy Ann Buck Erway, the wife of Eugene Frank Erway, my ex-wife's 2nd cousin 1x removed. Barbara Ellen Mosch

Alonzo Cushing is a distant relative of the cushing’s from Ulysses. Benjamin Jay Cushing and Leavitt Wilson Cushing are cousins of Alonzo. The family (and i) have 3 years of diaries and close to 200 letters between Leavitt and Benjamin Cushing
Yep, Albert Evans, grandfather of Mabel Evans Buck, whom married Lawrence Buck. ????.
