Charles, a son of Jacob Mercer and Mary Wilson, married Pearl Belle Mercer, a daughter of John William Mercer and Lucinda Gump Mercer, on December 28, 1907 in Wetzel Co., WV.

Charles A. Mercer died Tuesday evening at 6:45 PM at Glendale Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Tyler County on July 15, 1883, a son of Jacob and Mary Wilson Mercer.

He was a member of the Methodist Church of Paden City, WV. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Mercer; four sons, Russell of Rines Ridge, WV, Burl of Powhatan, Ohio, Charles and Dale Mercer both at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Lillian Wright, of Follansbee, Mrs. Sadie Neely and Mrs. Mary Goodrich both of Moundsville, WV, Mrs. Hilda Bostic of Ft. Benjamin, IN, Mrs. Gail Roberts of Procter, WV, and Miss Juanita Mercer at home; 26 grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Ollie Snider of Paden City, WV; four half-sisters, and four half-brothers. The body is at Grisell's pending arrangements for services.
