My G-Great-Grandfather Elijah Koonce/Koonse served in the Civil War. This is his invitation to the Gettysburg Reunion Celebration/encampment held July 1 - 3, 1913. The envelope is from a letter he sent home to G-Great-Grandmother during the emcampment.

There must be an error here somewhere. It shows he enlisted in August 1864 13 months after the battle of Gettysburg.

Tom McGonnell all Civil War veterans who were still alive 50 years after the battle were invited.

it was a Civil War old boys reunion, held at Gettysburg. Perhaps that is more clear.
I wondered about that myself when I discovered the documents. ????
