His name was often spelled "Almond" in news items and biographies, but "Almon" is inscribed on the marker.
From Jervis' History of the Village of Wayland, 1901
"Of those who became citizens of the village at this period, there are yet living as residents...
Almond J. Abrams, who came from Patchinsville in 1851.
He was the eldest son of Thomas Abrams, Sr., his mother being a daughter of Demas [Dennis] Hess.
He married Jane Snyder in 1853, Mrs. Abrams dying 1899.
They had one son, Noble S. Abrams."

"Wayland. The death of Almond J. Abrams, aged 77 years, occurred Sunday. Death was due to dropsy.
He leaves one son, Noble S. Adams of Hornellsville;
two brothers
- Truman of Loon Lake, and
- Thomas of Texas; also
- one sister, Mrs. Dr [Ezra] Carpenter of [North] Cohocton."
A similar death announcement was published in The Naples News, North Cohocton section, Thursday, March 12, 1903.
