• Death of Clara Man Is Result of SelfInflicted Gunshot Wound, Rules Coroner
An extensive investigation sheriff Harold C. Holcomb, Potter County coroner, and John Dec, deputy, has revealed that the death of a Clara man about 6:15 last Thursday night was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Theus Howard Fosmer, 31, was despondent ill health, said the coroner's office. following the investigation which ended only last night.
The body was found by his mother, Mrs. Irma Shattuck Fosmer, in the back yard at their home about two miles from Millport on legislative route 52009. Mr. Fosmer had lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fosmer, in the family home.
Death was instantaneous, according to the deputy coroner, who said a slug from a .30 calibre Springfield army rifle pierced the skull at the back of his head behind the right ear.
Mr. Fosmer was born Mar. 28. 1929, at Clara. Survivors, other than his parents, are one sister, Mrs. Marvin Calhoun, Shinglehouse, R. D.: two half-brothers, Elwin and Theldred Foster, Miami, Fla.; his maternal great grandmother and several aunts and uncles.
Private funeral services were held Sunday morning from the Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, by representatives of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Burial was in Grover Cemetery, Canton.

Ulysses Student Elected to Office
Lowell S. Carpenter, Ulysses, was elected vice chairman 1961 Mansfield State College Alumni Day at the annual Alumni Day on Saturday. At least 600 persons returned to the campus for the occasion. Class reunions, a business meeting and tours of the new library administration building took place.

Genesee Resident Forfeits $15.00 Bail
Donald Dunn, Genesee, was one dozen or so charged with law violations in the vicinity of Wellsville, over the week-end. He forfeited $15.00 bail when he failed to appear before Justice Richard on a speeding charge.
