Teddy, Kent, and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. I have so many wonderful memories of your parents. Your parents were a very important part of my life and I loved them very much. Ted sparked my love for science. He made learning fun for young minds. He played Santa Clause at a Christmas party when Nerine and I were small. I didn\'t know it was him until years later. He made a difference in so many peoples lives, a blessing!

Hard to believe my "Gentle Giant" uncle has passed away. I so much cherished visiting Uncle Ted and Aunt Joyce in Shinglehouse. I will never forget the time Uncle Ted and my father were practicing casting with a new fly-rod and caught the family dog's lip with the fly! Aunt Joyce wanted to call an ambulance, but they were able to cut the hook in half with a pair of needle nose pliers w/ no harm to the dog at all. Take care Teddy and Kent, it's a different world without parents in it.

Ted and Joyce Wichert were a tremendous part of our education at Oswayo Valley. Mrs. Wichert was my first grade teacher and introduced us to Spanish. Mr. Wichert was my 6th grade Homeroom Teacher and taught Science. He was also one of my coaches for Little League and my Basketball coach my senior year in High School.
I shall miss our visits with him in Sweden Valley and seeing him driving his white truck. He was a mountain of a man and yet a gentle giant. He will be missed.

There are not enough words to express how wonderful, kind, intelligent and caring this gentle giant of a man was. Thank you Mr. Wichert for all you taught me, from cooking hotdogs to making sauerkraut. You were a rock in our neighborhood when I was growing up and a friend in my adult years. It was a joy and an honor to know you.
Much love and strength to Ted and Kent and all the Wichert family.

We've been neighbors with the Wicherts for 46 years! What wonderful folks both Ted and Joyce were. We will miss Ted sitting on the porch. It was neat to read of Ted's being the Sunnyside life guard. When I was little, my Dad, Joe Sprout, would lock up the drugstore from noon til 1 and on warm summer days, we'd hurry up to Sunnyside and swim instead of having a lunch hour I so remember "Mr. Wichert" being there as the life guard! What fun it was! Such fond memories of a great man!
