TEACHERS AND PUPILS OF 50 YEARS AGO
Names From the Note Book of Ex-County Superintendent J. W. Allen, Taken During His Second Term. Many Who are Now Prominent In the Agricultural Business and Professional Life of the County.
While running the names teachers and pupils of Potter fifty years ago so kindly furnished by J. W. Allen, who was county superintendent at that time, and is till for his years unusually vigorous f mind and body, the ENTERPRISE Jeecived many compliments from its readers. In fact many pronounced It the most interesting feature they Had ever known to be run in a county paper. For this reason a request was made of Mr. Allen to send the names of the teachers and pupils during his second term, the names heretofore furnished being those who were in the schools during his first term.

He has kindly consented to again favor the ENTERPRISE as the fol lowing letter from him will show: Vandergrift, Pa. Feb. 17, 1917 186 Grant Avenue M. T. Stokes, Editor.

Coudersport, Pa. My dear Sir: I am mailing you herewith an Itemized cony (to be published in The Potter ENTERPRISE) of the names of the teachers and pupils whom I found written respectively in the teachers monthly report books while visiting as county superintendent of the public schools of Potter county, Pa., during my second term thereof, of three years each this beginning the first Monday of June, 1869. This work of copying these names has recalled many very Interesting experiences, of which I may write later more less reminiscences.
