Matthew Vance and Anne Jones were married in 1746, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Soon after, and like many of the old Irish families moved down into Augusta County where they lived for some seventeen years, before moving to Pittsylvania County, Virginia. They gave birth to three sons; John Vance who settled in Burke County, North Carolina, Abner Vance who settled in Russell County, Virginia, and Matthew Vance Jr who lived in Greenville, South Carolina and soon after moved his family to the area of Burke County, North Carolina. We give you the Revolutionary War of John Vance. The trial and murder of Lewis Horton by Abner Vance, and the 1812 War detail known on Matthew Vance Jr. In this book, we tell you about their families, and give some details of their lives. There is not a book big enough to cover each family line. Though this will give each family something to work with.
