You're right! I had to go back to his Grandparents to fit him into the tree I am working on and added the wrong information. Thanks!

This is a great photo, and I plan to add it to my family tree. Mike how did you acquire the photo? (I like to document the photos I use.)
William E. Phelps married Marie Ellen Chase 8 Apr 1896 in Potter Co. Marie, born Oct 1873 in PA, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Chase. The couple did not have any children. They were divorced 3 Sep 1914. She never remarried. Marie died 17 Jan 1927 at Hornell, Steuben Co., NY.
William E. Phelps married Matilda A. Tuttle (1872-1937) on 25 Oct. 1917 in Emporium, Cameron Co., PA. It was the second marriage for both. William and Matilda did not have any children. Matilda had two daughters by a previous marriage to James Taylor. The daughters were Ocie A. and Lillian J.
Matilda’s sister Rebecca L. Tuttle was married to my grand uncle Frederick M. Mitchell.
Attached is the obituary for William E. Tuttle [The Potter Enterprise 10 May 1928 Th p1].

The photo was in a collection of 50+ photos that I recently purchased. The photos came from a Jones family in Pawlet, VT and Granville, NY. It was advertised as having photos from prominent Emporium families, which is why I purchased them. It turns out all of the families are inter married. Fortunately and amazingly all of the photos are ID'd. I'm sharing with the various FB sites as I scan and enter the photos in a family tree I built on Ancestry. I am surprised the Jones family let this collection go. It even included the family bible from 1847. It is obvious that a family genealogist had the collection and ID'd the people.

That's a great story. Where do you find that kind of advertising? Is the Ancestry tree public? Another clip is attached [The Potter Enterprise 20 Nov 1919 Th p1].

No photo description available.

WILLIAM PHELPS
DIES AT HOME HERE
Well Known Man, iII Several Months, Succumbs After Great Suffering.
William E. Phelps, known to his worlds of friends as Bill Phelps, passed away at the family home on Mill street at 7:25 last evening. Mr. Phelps retired from active business about a year ago selling his garage on West Second street to W. A Harris. About October 1 he suffered a stroke of paralysis and since that time he had been confined to his home with the exception of a few times he was able to ride out. For the last week he had suffered greatly and death came as a relief from his earthly troubles. He was given the tenderest care but neither care nor medical skill could avail.
William E. Phelps was a son of Frank and Amelia (Nelson) Phelps born at Ladona, January 3, 1870. During his young manhood he was engaged in lumbering and with the exception of a few years he was located at Emporium, his entire life was spent in this vicinity. Some years ago he erected the building that is now the Potter County Garage and later he purchased the garage property opposite the Enterprise office.
Bill was a big hearted big man whose friends were all who knew him and his death is sincerely mourned.
Surviving him is his widow and two step-daughters,
- Mrs. Charles Heinemeyer of Newark, N. J., and
- Mrs. Joseph Haskins of Coudersport,
- also one sister, Mrs. W. W. Toombs of Olean.
Funeral services will be held from the Park M. E. Church tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.
- Interment will be in Eulalia Cemetery.
