One of the more vivid memories I have of T Lee was the time I was sitting in the faculty room at lunch with others when he walked in. He got just a few feet inside when he suddenly stiffened up like he'd run into a brick wall. "Somebody's got a peanut butter sandwich!", he stated, and wheeled around and walked right back out. That was the first I knew he had a severe peanut allergy. His sensitivity to just the smell alone astounded me and gave me a new appreciation for how serious such allergic reactions could be.
(FWIW, I didn't have the PB sandwich)

Had him for home room in school and as a customer when he use to come into the store way back. Always liked and respected him.
Every year when I go to the cemetery to check on my grandparents grave, I make it a point to go visit his, say hello and maybe do a little trimming around his stone.

One of the better faculty pictures I ever took…. I’ll always remember Mr. Bennett fondly. He made a big deal of the fact that he was retiring the same year we were graduating. I had hoped he would officiate my wedding.

T Lee visited me once in Lynchburg and came to one of my classes. Ever the teacher, he began to interact with them and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He was a true original.
He had nice kids, too.

Aside from all the well-deserved compliments for T. Lee, I still own a single barrel shotgun I bought from him for something like 20 dollars or so. He was a good man.

Bet it’s 10-20 times worth what you paid for it.
Reminds me of the time I sold my uncle’s Steven’s double barrel 12 gauge for $20. That was 1963.

I also recall selling my 4-inch barrel Hi-Standard 22 to Andy Gall for like 20 bucks, as I was dead broke at the time.
