The chicken - very cool
Some people talk about past lives. If we lived them I'm pretty sure I worked like a machine in one of these camps.
They were only 1 or 2 maybe 3 generations in from the early settlers (does that sound right?).
Hard core those people. That is the sort of stock most of us come from.

How can I learn more about these camps? Did they bring workers from Ireland?

There was a great depression early 1890's and an influx of families coming into the area; to harvest the pine/hemlock, that I have tracked from Chemung, Tioga, Broome Counties of NY at that time. There was rail service into Wellsville and Genesee as well as Harrison Valley and Galeton. I'm only guessing many of them must have used this to get there especially since I viewed the census where my "Hardy-Hardey" and some "Canfield" ancestors came, left and returned again. https://www.loc.gov/resource/g3801p.rr002700/...

Ric Main Wow! So much more rr mileage in Tioga & Bradford counties than in Potter! I hadn't realized that. Interesting. Thank you so much, Ric for the link.
