Paul Lynn Gardner 1938. I think there was a mark in our cellar on Ross Street for 1942. No doubt that was flooding so close to the river.

The archway in the background looks familiar. Could the site be the corner of Allegany Avenue and South Main? The building in the background would have been Haskins Motors at one time and the Hardware could be Dorfeld's.

Gerry Hamilton gosh you’re good. I do see it! Eventually Haskins and Dorfeld Hardware. Looks damaged and Uncle Joe is wearing high boots.

Gerry Hamilton, has the location correct. Joe's boots indicate that he was probably in a flooded basement, cleaning out. The washed-out bricks also indicate flood. The aftermath of one of the floods in the '40s is most likely by the age of that vehicle.

It all seems to be after the 42 flood. Dolly looks to be about 3 years old.

The 42 flood was mentioned on the Weather Channel recently. Seems like it holds a record for the amount of rain that fell in such a short period of time. It was certainly an event that everyone who lived through it never forgot.
