What a class act Mrs. Olin was. We didn’t truly appreciate what a great teacher she was until college freshmen English.

Mrs. Olin was a great educational atribute for those that had the oppurtunity to study in her class.
Some persons just stand out as making a difference.

In college, I stunned some of my friends when I diagrammed sentences.

Had Mrs. Olin in English, too. She was fantastic...Class of 74, but did not get to graduate there. :-(

That’s my aunt who thought I gave her the nickname since I knew she didn’t care for cats! We were very close in later years.

She inspired me to become an English teacher. I thought of her often while preparing lessons or puzzling over a grammar question.
She taught me how to diagram sentences and appreciate the beauty and complexity of the English language.

I still remember her giving me a 95% on an essay .....very high grade for Mrs. Olin. It was called, "From a Dog's Point of View." I reread it several yesrs ago. It was clever...but she must have been in a very good mood the night she corrected that essay. Additionally, 95% is a pretty exact grade for a 3 page paper. (It wasn't math class or even sentence diagramming.) I learned a lot from Mrs. Olin.

I think of Mrs. Olin every time I encounter a grammatical error. I owe my love of grammar to this amazing teacher who taught me how to diagram sentences in 8th grade.

You mentioned diagramming sentences. They probably don’t do that anymore. They don’t teach cursive. Class of 1951

Paul Lynn Gardner English instruction and haircuts? Many of us remember Mrs. Olin's husband Ken, who had a barber shop on S. Main St.
