In imitation of the recent hanging of Charles Brewster at Coudersport, two boys, Clarence Campbell and Glen Hulte of West Brannen (West Branch? -jcw) Potter County, hanged Eddie Bently, a schoolmate, to the bell rope of a school house. The boys were playing sheriff. The Bently boy was cut down by his school teacher, Grace Reynolds, just in time to save his life. The lad was unconscious, his neck badly lacerated and an attending physician stated that he barely escaped with his life. The two boys who did this deed are accused of hanging the boy.
