Obituary for William Sherman Pfeiffer -
William S. Pfeiffer
Well Loved and Respected Aged Man Goes to His Reward.
"Billie is dead." ..That word passed from one to another yesterday afternoon, and brought sorrow to the hearts of hundreds who had known the fine old gentleman.
William Sherman Pfeiffer was born at Marietta, Ohio, April 30, 1866; a son of John and Hanna Pfeiffer. He married Nellie Boyington Walley of Roulette at. Olean, NY, Jan. 31, 1894. He had lived in Pittsburgh and Olean before locating at Roulette 68 years ago.
At that place he was employed for a time in the tannery that once flourished there. Later he was superintendent of the Roulette Telephone Company and at one time he was assistant engineer for the North Penn Gas Company. For a long time he was a photographer with a studio in Roulette. Mr. Pfeiffer was the last of five children born to the Pfeiffer family.
For well over fifty years deceased was a member of the Masonic fraternity. He took his degrees in Coudersnort Consistory in 1900, and until advanced age and ill health prevented, he was a faithful worker at every reunion of the Scottish Rite bodies.
Funeral service will be held from the Grabe Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev. Bruce Stearns officiating.
Burial will be in Lyman Cemetery at Roulette. Masonic brothers will attend the service in a body.
