Hatfield and McCoy Feud
Favorites · December 23, 2022
· This image is of Coleman Alderson Hatfield (1889-1970), the son of Cap (1864-1930) and Nan Hatfield (1866-1942); and the grandson of William Anderson "Devil Anse” (1839-1921) and Levicy Hatfield (1842-1929). This photograph of Coleman was taken along the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River.
Later, Coleman studied law, passed the bar, and became a practicing attorney in Logan, WV, and a community leader.
Coleman was also considered a prominent feud researcher and historian, and spent much of his adult life researching and documenting his family history. Circa 1904.

Sandy and I watched the mini-series relating to the Hatfield-McCoy feud which involved State border land issues and from memory a pig. A most interesting series in which both familes had input. More than a dozen members from both sides were killed. Mem… See more

There is a monument to one of the Hatfields in a cemetary that overlooks a winding road that goes from Logan into Mingo Counties. I remember we would always drive by it going to my grandmothers house. Does anyone know the monument I am thinking about?

I've traveled all in that area years ago. Bought a great book on The Hatfield's and McCoys in an old country store in the area. Great reading and a few old pictures.
