This portrait is of Rose Lee Hatfield Browning (1885 - 1965), the beloved daughter of William Anderson “Devil Anse” and Levisa “Levicy” Chafin Hatfield. As an adult, Rose became the wife of Francis Marion Browning (1883–1963). The children of Rose and Francis included Robert Ance Browning, Willis Tennis Browning, Joseph Elliott Browning, Moses Browning, Sherman Browning, Louvisa "Visa" Hatfield Browning Carr, and Lera Betty Browning Brown.
Rose passed from complications from pneumonia on Aug 31st, 1965, at Logan General Hospital, Logan WV.

This was my grandmother. She died of a stroke in August. A month after I turned nine.
She did have pneumonia earlier in her life. My grandmother was a strong, loving, fierce woman. She always carried a small pistol in her purse. It was part of heritage! My father was her second son. He was one five.

I am a Hateful. My sister -n-law research and found out that fact. In 1895 I am not sure if the Hatfield female got married to a McCoy. I am not too well read on the exact date.

I just know I have that strong Hatfield blood. I am from Southern W.V.A. From a Holler. Sandick W.V.A. was where my family lived. My dad was a coal .miner, Moonshiner, preacher man.
So that makes.e a "Coal Miner, Moonshiner, preacher mans daughter. Yes Haw!!!!!
