• Burial of Captain Anse Hatfield

Captain Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield, one-time Confederate army officer and for many years thereafter one of the most famous feudists in the mountains of West Virginia who died Friday was buried yesterday beside his two sons Troy and Elias. The obsequies were attended by 11 surviving chjldren. Two of the dead man’s sons “Cap” Hatfield and Dr. E.R. Hatfield of Charleston, long estranged, were reconciled at the funeral.
