Claude W. Benson, Retired Mailman, Dies in Hospital

COUDERSPORT - (special)
Claude Wallace Benson, 66, retired mail carrier, died in Potter County Memorial Hospital Sunday from a coronary condition.
Mr. Benson retired from his postal duties in September of 1939 for health reasons. Born here on Jan 18 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Benson, Mr. Benson had lived in the same house on E. Second St. since he was five years old.
Despite his work Mr. Benson was an outdoors enthusiast and was known in this area as an ardent hunter and fisherman. His wife, the former Retta Ahrens, is the only survivor.
Services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in a local funeral home with theRev. James S. Hold pastor of the Port Allegany Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery.
