On the matter of the
adoption of Cora Freeman and
Sarah Isabele Freeman
And now March 3, 1890 upon the petition of Melville S. Thompson and Cora M. Thompson his wife and the court being satisfied on due consideration that the welfare of said Cora Freeman and Sarah Isabel Freeman will be promoted by being adopted as children and heirs of this petition about that 1st advice (?) Cora Freeman shall assume the name Marcia R. Thompson and said Isabele Sarah Freeman shall assume the name of Marion I. Thompson and have all the rights of children and heirs of the said Melville S. Thompson and Cora M. Thompson and be subject to the duties of children.

The two Thompson girls, Marcia and Marion, were born Cora and Isabele Sarah Freeman, resp., daughters of a sister of M.S. Thompson; he and his wife, Cora Mann Thompson, adopted the sisters upon the death of their mother in Kansas. Their names were changed at adoption.
