· James C. Varney, shown here, was born in 1838 in by Logan County, now Mingo County, WV, and passed in 1926). His parents were Andrew Varney (1800-1878) and Sarah Stafford Varney (1805-1879).
James C. Varney was the father of Andrew Jackson Varney. Andrew (1880-1930) happened to be a first cousin of Levisa "Levicey" Chafin Hatfield, the wife of Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield.
James C. Varney was also the grandfather of the great comedian and actor, Jim Varney.

James Albert Varney Jr. (1949 - 2000) was an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his comedic role as Ernest P. Worrell, as well as appearing in films and numerous television commercial advertising campaigns.

Mary Sue Mounlio another cousin and I rode through there in October 2021. We were looking for the Varney cemetery and never saw a side street or anything. Just a little store. Does the cemetery exist there or how to you get to anywhere ?

Raymond C Knight Sr Cemeteries in this area are most often not marked or called by some other name. My husband has a map (he works for a coal company) and they have to have a list of them. If I can find it, I’ll let you know.

Raymond C Knight Sr My mother was Frances Hatfield Lendaro. Her father was Robert Luther Hatfield. And his father was Johnse Hatfield (married to Jinettie Brookshire….Johnse’s 4th and final marriage).

Both my grandmas were Varneys. I know one great grandfather was John. Not recalling the other right now.
Is the familial connection to the Hatfields through the Varneys?
If so, I need to do some digging.

Debbie Land It's has been 5 years now, I lost my wife is it sure he doesn't get any easier The fact she passed away from car accident was the only way If that wasn't hard enough the guilt I feel not able to help her win her battle I still don't know how to look at my life without seeing an inescapable absence I feel like I died too and they just forgot to bury me, some things cannot be fixed there is a hole in the world which I find myself I wish I had someone who cares someone to talk to about my grief and my days I have never experienced anything like it before but this has hit me like a ton of bricks miss her so much the pain is awful Hope you don't mind click on my profile and send me a direct message so that we can talk on Messenger or adding me as a friend on facebook
