Paul W. Heimel
Paul W. Heimel Despite the fact that the media and the school district no longer use the moniker, I believe it is still officially Metzger Field. My guess is the current folks at the school and in the media don't know that.

Paul Lynn Gardner Before the current School was built the field was used for community events such as circuses, etc, the community often referred to it as Metzger Field.

Larry Herbstritt
Larry Herbstritt It is a shame that Owen G's donation to Coudersport is uncredited. The property was donated with the stipulation that it be used exclusively for various sports. Somehow the town skirted that stipulation and built the school on much of the land, leaving only the current practice field, that was ONCE called Metzger Field.

Thomas T Shirey
Thomas T Shirey Lewis Schaub told us in 7th grade history class the entire story of how this land was donated to the community by Mr. Metzger....how the borough sold the land to the school to the district for $1.00 ....yes one dollar, with the stipulation that the school district would replace all the facilities "in a timely fashion". Lighted tennis courts...lighted baseball and softball fields.....'the works"! Many years later and long after my class was gone, new fields were built at the CARP site. In my opinion.....it was a bad deal.....sour grapes for me!

Jane Heimel Metzger
Jane Heimel Metzger I remember this, Tommy! And I also remember listening to WFRM when Ed Easton would talk about Metzger Field. So how many years went by before we actually won a football game on that field? When my kids went to Coudersport School, they learned about local history from Mr. Lane.
