... in the county. These markers have been prepared by the state Historical Commission and will mark the site of significant events in the history of the county. Among these are the following:
- Ceres Settlement, 1798 by Francis King;
- Coryville Tidewater Pump Station;
- Governor McKean's Mt. Equity Plantation near Turtle Point;
- Port Allegany's "Portage";
- "Bucktail" Regiment organization by Gen. T.L. Kane;
- Smethport, the County Seat, and two Pennsylvania Markers to be placed on highways leading from New York into Pennsylvania, one at Tuna and the other at Bullis Mills.
