Dr GEORGE CHRISTIAN MOSCH
Seeing this photo of Dr George Mosch on his motorcycle reminded me of the time he mended my cuts and scrapes at the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital emergency room one summer evening in 1968. I was the last motorbike in a row, of five riders, returning to Coudersport from Olean, NY. About half way home, a rather excited dog was not able to catch the four bikes in front of me, however the rambunctious canine was able to connect with my Bridgestone 175. The unfortunate beast and me took a tumble. The dog did not survive and barely did I. I don’t know if Barbie or Luke Mosch originally posted this photo, but it fascinated me, so here I am sharing it with the family. Dr George is the man who delivered me and my twin brother, was our family doctor while growing up and even made a house call when I had bronchitis.

This is getting to be a 1968 post. He was supposed to deliver me in 1968, but he was out of town on Father’s Day weekend. Maybe now I will find out where he was - since everyone has vivid memories of that year.

Margie Brown I know. Both cars went into the air when they hit. Mine a Oldsmobile Sally Haskins, who turned in front of me was in a Classic 1965 bright orange Mustang. She was in the hospital for a few days

They look like pics I've posted for his birthday or anniversary of his passing. The one on the cycle would be about 1978 or so. I was fortunate to go to the hospital with dad while he made his rounds or patched someone up in the ER. I was able to see a lot of gory stuff as a kid. I don't think Dr.'s could get away with having their kid in the ER with them any more.

Paul Lynn Gardner you and Peter were his first twins, as I remember from an earlier post you shared. (Mother's Day 2016- When you shared, I mean.)

George and Doris were at my parents 50th wedding anniversary and as each family member shared their individual story, Dr George was reminded of that day. After having four boys, my mother was hoping for a girl. After Pete was born, mom told Dr George, "if that second one isn't a girl, throw him in the trash can". 15 minutes later, I arrived and Mom forgot all about what she said. Dr George with a serious response, said "I thought you would keep him."

An amazing doctor. The Mosch doctors all had extraordinary bedside manners. If you think about it, All the descendants from our ancestors had kind and gentle traits.

Some of my earliest memories are of visiting Coudersport with my grandparents, John and Ruth Mosch. I was pretty young, just 5 maybe, but I specifically remember playing in George’s back yard, Herman’s organ room, and Paul’s Lionel trail collection. Also Mosch’s Tavern which might have been connected to an ice house? That would have been around 1982 and this picture of George is exactly how I remember him.

Paul Lynn Gardner I find it so fascinating that such a high percentage of the Otto Mosch descendants were in the medical profession. It certainly seems to lend credence to the idea that genetic expression might include personality traits as well as physical traits.

Our family of ten on the farm had many reasons to seek Dr. George's healing and mending services - I had staples on my leg twice! Seems like it was never during office hours. We seldom appreciate the "on-call" nature of rural medicine. Thank you to all the Mosch doctors!
