Max D. Conable of Gold With American Expeditionary Forces, Writes To Home Folks.
Max D. Conable son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Conable of Gold is one of Potter county's patriots who are doing service in France. Max enlisted from Olean and left a good position as station agent to serve with the colors.
His parents received the following interesting letter from him some time ago:
Dec. 26th, 1917.
My dear mother and all:
AsI did not get time to write my weekly letter Sunday will endeavor to do so now to let you know i am well and getting along nicely.
Well, another Christmas has passed and another year is nearly gone. Am sorry but I cannot say that I enjoyed this Christmas as well as I did the last one although we all had a pretty good Christmas considering the circumstances we are in, and about everything possible was done by the Y. M. C. A. and Red Cross people to make it pleasant for us, but nevertheless it was far from being a Christmas at home.
I haven't had a letter from anyone for over a month now. Suppose they must be delayed somewhere. Hope I get one soon as I get pretty hloimesick to hear from soneone at home.
We had our first snow about a week ago but it only snowed about three inches and it has not snowed much since, but I suppose we will get plenty of it before the winter is over.
Well mother dear I will have to close for this time as it's nearly super time. With best wishes to you all, I remain,
Your son,
Max.

MAX D. CONABLE.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Conable, of Gold, Pa With the American Expeditionary Forces in France.

IS SAD CASE.
Aged Mother of Late Thomas Keegan Put on Town for Support.
An order of relief has been obtained for Mrs. Catherine Keegan the aged mother of the late Thomas Keegan. It will be remembered that both Thomas Keegan and his wife died about Christmas time leaving the aged mother and six young children. Thomas Keegan, who all his life had been an industrious and honest citizen left a pleasant home consisting of 75 acres, and it is said that the mother, who had about $2700 at the death of her husband assisted in paying for the farm.
