My dear Susan,
I will write to you today and let you know that I am still well. Yesterday the army of the Potomac was reviewd in Washington. It was a hard days work for us but I think it was a grand review. It is rumoed that we are to march from here to Baltimore but it may be nothing but a rumor and there is an abundance of rumors here. I have some hopes of gtetting home in 4 or five weeks but still we know nothing about it. and we may not I wish that you would send me a dollar or so of money in your next letter and write as soon as you get this. Did Edwin Benton get some money of you(?) Keep up good courage I hope to come home by and by if the Lord will. Plant all the potatoes and beanes you can boys, as I hope to help you eat some of them next winter.
