was killed in battle in front of Petersburg, Va. while leading his company in charge upon the Rebel Works on the 17th of June 1864, aged 25 years, 2 months, 4 days. He was Orderly Sergeant of Co. I 2nd Pa. Provisional Heavy Artillery. In his dying anguish. Mid war's confusion wild comrades heard his accents, "My darling wife and child."
