MRS. ADELAIDE WEIMER dies; Former Teacher
Mrs. Adelaide Olivia Smith Craw Weimer of 911 Davis St, a former Elmira school teacher, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. Edgar Ayers of Daggett, Pa. She was 82.
In failing health about two years, she moved to her daughter's home when her condition became critical two months ago.
Born at Otego, NY, she was the daughter of Van B. and Damie Baldwin Smith. She was a niece of the late Francis E. Baldwin, founder of the Thatcher Glass Mfg. Co. Her grandmother on her father's side was Hannah VanBuren, a cousin of President Martin VanBuren.
She was graduated from Elmira College, Class of 1899, and was preceptress at Ellicottville (NY) High School from 1900 to 1904. She first was married to the Rev. Alanson A. Craw, a Methodist clergyman at Ellicottville.
Following her husband's death in 1914, she returned to Elmira and taught science and biology for two years at Elmira Free Academy, 1918-19.
She was married in 1920 to George W. Weimer, who died in 1953.
