A letter I wrote to my Dad on his last Father's Day -
Dear Dad,
In this world that is not so perfect, you have always been the perfect Dad to me. You have inspired me to never give up on what I try to do. I thank you for all your support and encouragement. This has not been a good year for you and it is my turn to give back the support and encouragement that you need. You have helped me to be a better person. I have learned from you that there is good in everyone. I have learned from you that we can't always understand why stuff happens like it does, but we accept things like they are and go on. If it weren't for you Dad, I wouldn't have a clue about deer hunting or antiques. Because of you, I appreciate the enjoyment of something simple like a rooster crowing or a bluebird feeding its young or ducks on a pond. You have shown me the meaning of hard work, sometimes rewarding, sometimes not. We have had a few disagreements in the past but worked things out. So I learned from that, it is so much better to get over bad feelings and get on with life. I also learned to respect other people's feelings because of you. Our weekend rides have meant so much to me. I have learned things about you I didn't know; places you have hunted, places you have worked, stories about your family. Sometimes we would ride for miles and not say anything. It was enough for me to just be able to take you for a ride. I hope we can keep going on these rides for a long time. Since December, I know you have felt like the last rose of Summer most of the time. My heart breaks for you. But you have kept your humor through it all. And you have shown me the true meaning of strength and courage. I am so very proud to call you my Dad. Happy Father's Day.
