May 24 1917. (a Thursday)
Last Thursday night many of the people were aroused by the alarm that John Snyder's house was on fire. It was about 12 o'clock when the track walker, John Rotundo, was coming back toward his home. He noticed the fire and at once gave the alarm. All the family was in bed. The fire had such a start before many could get there that they could not put it out. Although they got most of the valuable goods out. How it caught is a mystery. The family is now occupying Mr. John Case's house across the street.
Miss Ruth Case and little brother, George, were in Portville Saturday last.
