The friends of Horace' Brizzee will be sorry to hear that he leaves Thursday for Hornell, where he will undergo an operation for a bone cancer with little hopes of his recovery.

Died in Oswayo, January 13th, Mr. Frank Moore, age 69 years. He had been a great sufferer, having been sick nearly a year. He leaves to mourn his loss a kind and loving wife, who was ever at his bedside to relieve him of his Besides three sons, William of Virginia; Wesley and Bogue of South Bolivar. He was laid at rest in the Oswayo cemetery, J. W. Emsber of Wellsville, funeral directors. Funeral was held from the U. B. church Rev. Weaver, officiating

The Oswayo Thimble club gave Mrs. Delia Lunn a very pleasant birthday surprise last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Don VanWegen attended the Embroidery club at Margaret Emerick's in Coudersport last Saturday.

After a five weeks tussle with the grip L. C. VanWegen again takes up his work on 3 February 1st.
Lillian Blow who has been very sick with pneumonia and pleurisy is slowly recovering.

Mrs. Leon Haskins entertained the unior Sunday School class Saturday evening in honor of her daughter Cleo's birthday.
On Friday evening cf last week the following young people spent a very pleasant evening at the home, of Mr. and Mrs. John Dodd.
Mrs. O. J. Randall and daughter Cleo home January 28th, after an absence of two weeks, visiting friends in Smethport and Buffalo. While in Buffalo they consulted an oculist for Miss Cleo.
Mort McNeil of Rexville and Isabel Cornell of Young Hickory visited at B. A. Matteson for three days last week. They also entertained Miss Minnie Mosch Thursday night; Haskell Col-cprd Friday night; and Ruth Van De Boe Saturday and Sunday.

The Ladies' Embroidery Clubmet at the home of Mrs. Eva Tyler's last Thursday afternoon. Guy Morris from near Olean, N. Y. is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morris this week. Mr. and Mrs. John Sperle and son Jay, and grandson James were guests at the home of A. J. Fosmer's Sunday. Burr Wakley ond Lew Wakley and wife drove to Shingle House Wednesday. Mrs. L. Wakley had some dental work done.
Miss Marie Signor, teacher of our school went home Friday afternoon to spend Saturday and Sunday with her parents at Oswayo.
Mrs. Lynn Wakley and infant son Harvey, also her mother, Mrs. Margaret Haught called on Mrs. May Sperle Thursday afternoon.
On January 28th Esca Scoville took advantage of the Spring like weather and plowed. This is rushing the season some, but Esca is a hustler.
Harry Tyler has gone as traveling agent for The Empire Milking Machines and Cream Separators. His wife and baby daughter Ona will reside with Mrs. Tyler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Baker of Millport. Their friends neighbors of this place are sorry to loose them.

LADONA
Several families of this' place are sick with the grip. Wm. Stebbins is able to be about his duties at the County Home again. Mr. and Mrs.

Henry Tauscher were shopping in Coudersport Tuesday. Mrs. D. Tombs spent Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. H.

Tombs Mrs. Arthur Baker of Coudersport called on Mrs. Roy Vergeson last Friday. Mrs. Westfall of Sweden Valley was canvassing through this place one day last week.

Uncle Dan Crandall is able to walk around the house a little -with the help of a cane. The Ladies' Aid will meet at the home of Mrs. M. A. Martin on Thursday of this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Dickens went back to their work in Elmira and Gaines Monday morning. The Misses Eileen and Lorna Kil-bourne have been sick and did not attend school the past week Mrs. James Ives who has been sick for sometime was so bad Sunday Dr.

Genung of Ulysses was called and he stayed at least part of the night. Mr. and Mrs. L. C.

Flynn stayed at the home of G. H. Flynn Sunday night on account of the illness of Mr Flynn and his daughter Genevieve. The Westfield basket ball team played our team here Saturday night. The score was 10 to 42 in Pike's favor.

The Westfield boys are nice fellows and we would say so if they had beaten us here too, as they did at Westfield. Burdick assisted Mrs. Button, who just recently moved in the rooms vacated by the store. Mrs. Deal Lunn of Oswayo has been' doing some sewing for Mrs Morran at her home in this place. Mrs.

Mattie Morran, Mrs. Stonemeti and Mrs. Beebe were pleasant callers at Mrs. Harris' last Friday afternoon-Orders have been given at the Chemical factory that no boys under 16 years of age are allowed in the factory. rMs.

Bailey's one day last week. 1 Mr. and Mrs. E. Elliott went to the Eleven Mile and Alma to visit his mother and brother at Alma for a week or so.

Miss Zeurah Harris had the misfortune to burn her arm badly with boiling water last Tuesday which has been very painful. Miss Georgia Bailey went home with her teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Ken-yon on Crandall Hill last Thursday night to stay over' Sunday. Mrs.

Etta Bliss has been staying with Mrs. Frank Wood of Oswayo the last few days of last week. She returned home Friday night. Miss Ellen Bailey went to Eldred last Wednesday to visit her sister who works there in the Central hotel going 'on from that place with her sister to Port Allegany to attend the C. E.

Baker passed his 70th brith-day the 24th of January. He aad his wife, are both very feeble. Alva Harding went to Corey to have a cancer treated on his hand. This is the third time in the last three years.

Three Naval Guns Lost. Bremerton, Feb. 3. Three eight-inch guns, removed from the cruiser Colorado, for shipment to Washington, went into the Port Orchard bay by the capsizing of a barge. The guns being taken to Seattle by rail.
